The Traverse City Human Rights Commission has announced their 2026 honorees, including Immigration Law & Justice Michigan’s Legal Director, Marcelo Betti, as the Humanitarian of the Year.

Marcelo, through his work with ILJ-MI, has helped thousands of families through the humanitarian and family immigration process, serving as the only low bono/pro bono attorney north of Grand Rapids. “His tireless dedication to our clients speaks volumes about his deeply held beliefs about justice and human dignity. It’s an honor to work with him to help immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and unaccompanied refugee minor children,” says Julie Powers, ILJ-MI Executive Director.
