ILJ-MI Joins ILJ-Network and United Women in Faith in Denouncing Biden Administration’s Latest Executive Order

On June 4, 2024 the Biden Administration announced a new executive order that directs the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to cut off asylum seekers at the U.S.-Mexico border, deport them without processing asylum claims, and bar them from re-entry for extended periods.

Our national network Immigration Law & Justice Network along with the United Women in Faith have officially denounced the executive order and shared its similarities to President Trumps Muslim ban. Although the Biden administration claims it will only take effect when the Southern border is overwhelmed, the ramifications of this order for families already tramautized by their immigration journeys are unprecedented.

Many people fleeing dangerous conditions or certain death can now potentially be refused consideration for asylum. Immigration Law & Justice Michigan would like to announce our support of our national network and the United Women in Faith by also denouncing this new executive order and its general lack of empathy and fairness for those seeking asylum in the United States.
